Columbia College hosts Margaret Jenkins Dance Company this weekend in three performances. Starting Thursday, February 9 extending through Sunday, February 11, 2012, Margaret Jenkins Dance Company will take the stage at 8 p.m. at The Dance Center.
Known for creating physically rigorous, intellectually and philosophically demanding works, Jenkins is a master of infusing observations about the human character into her routines. In Light Moves, Jenkins collaborates with her dancers and internationally recognized composer Paul Dresher, Wallace Stevens Award-winning poet Michael Palmer and critically acclaimed multimedia artist Naomie Kremer. Inspired by the natural cycles of light, Light Moves takes the audience on a journey of shifting emotional character, physical velocity and the stories that lie within these cycles.
There will be a Post-Performance Conversation on Thursday, February 9 and a Pre-Performance Talk with Margaret Jenkins on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. There will be limited seating.
To purchase tickets to one of the performances, contact The Dance Center Box Office at columbiatickets@colum.edu.
